I was particularly delighted that this painting of Charlie, The Cameroon Apollo was quietly featured in A Friend of Dorothy.

My subject is a remarkle young, queer man from Cameroon with a fierce intelligence, kindness and beauty - so redolant of JJ, the film’s hero. I think having Dorothy owning this more modernist male nude of a queer black subject gives another hint at her rich intellectual hinterland and openness of mind.
